Fr. Steve’s assignment announcement

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Two weeks after announcing I am not being transferred this year, I was asked to move.  I did not request a new assignment; in fact, I asked to stay.  It is the will of the bishop and for the good of the diocese that I have been made pastor of Saint Margaret Mary Parish in Parkersburg effect on June 15th.

My seven years here have been the finest of my priesthood.  I have not been happier in my ministry as pastor of this parish and school.  The people of Weston are outstanding in kindness and unity.  It really pleases me to announce with great joy that your new pastor will be a wonderful and holy priest and outstanding as your spiritual head.  He is Father James DeViese, Jr.

Father DeViese has been ordained for seven years.  He has served the diocese as a deacon with Father McSweeny, as an associate pastor, and as the administrator in Ravenswood.  Most recently Father DeViese was the bishop’s secretary for the past year before being assigned to Snowshoe and Durbin on March 1rst.  I believe completely that this is the will of God for me and for Father DeViese as we both look forward to our new places of ministry.

With both joy and sorrow in my heart, I entrust all of you to the good Lord and look forward to my remaining months as your pastor.

Sincerely, in Jesus

Fr. Steve
